Barcelona target wants Camp Nou switch in the summer, ready to snub Chelsea, PSG
Athletico Paranaense striker Vitor Roque has emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Only 17 years of age, the young striker is earning rave reviews for his performances in his homeland, while he is also making an impression at the South American U-20 Championship with the Brazilian U-20 national team.
Barcelona rate the teenager very highly due to several reasons and are keen on incorporating his signing in the summer.
And, according to the cover page of Mundo Deportivo on February 3, Vitor Roque also wants to move to Barcelona and is prepared to snub other top European clubs like Chelsea and PSG, who are also keeping tabs on his progress.
Furthermore, it is reported that the Brazilian teenager’s agent will soon be arriving in Barcelona, when talks are expected to take place over a possible transfer in the summer.
The Blaugrana need a backup striker to relieve some of the burden on Robert Lewandowski and see Vitor Roque as the ideal option to learn from the Poland captain and eventually succeed him as the main man at Spotify Camp Nou.
Since joining Athletico Paranaense last year, the striker, who will turn 18 later this month, has netted seven goals and set up three more from 36 appearances. Roque has also bagged five goals in four games at the South American U-20 Championship with Brazil.
He has a contract with Athletico that runs until the summer of 2027, but reports suggest that Barcelona can sign Roque for a sum of €30 million plus another €5 million in variables.
While the interest from Chelsea and PSG would have presented a challenge due to their financial might, Vitor Roque’s desire to play for Barça could sway things in the Catalans’ favour.
With his agent expected to arrive in Barcelona soon, there could be movement on this front in the coming weeks.
