Lionel Messi is having the time of his life in Qatar, scoring goals for fun and defying logic with every passing game.

He secured a spot in the final of the prestigious event with a dominant 3-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday and will face either France or Morocco in the game on Sunday.

Be it coaches, legends, or current players of the game, very few in the world of football have held back their admiration of the 35-year-old phenom.

Several prominent figures have openly advocated their support for Messi’s team, proving that football transcends all boundaries.

Brazilian legend Rivaldo is the latest to join the Messi bandwagon as he came out on his Instagram to show his support for the Argentine. He said that with his country out of the running, he hoped that the former Barcelona star would be crowned the champion of the world on Sunday.

“We no longer have Brazil or Neymar in this cup final so I’ll stick with Argentina. No words for you Messi, you deserved to be World Champion before, but God knows all things and will crown you this sunday.”

Rivaldo then elaborated on why he felt Messi deserved the special trophy, citing both sporting and non-sporting reasons.

“You deserve this title for the person you are and for the wonderful football you have always played. Hats off to you and God bless you.”

In six World Cup appearances in Qatar, Messi has scored five goals and provided three assists in what has been a jaw-dropping campaign. If Argentina make it all the way, not only would he be a candidate for the Golden Boot but also the Golden Ball and Ballon d’Or.
