Ronald Araujo is one of the few immovable cogs in Xavi’s project at Barcelona. The team may be in a difficult moment, but the Uruguayan remains one of the first names on the team list as long as he is fit and raring.

His rise to prominence at Barcelona, however, has attracted interest from several of Europe’s elite in recent years.

As a young centre-back who already has a claim to be one of the best in the business, the world knows that the youngster’s ceiling is frightening.

Bayern Munich have thus relentlessly chased after Araujo in the recent months. Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the player and sees him to be the one addition that could elevate his team to the pinnacle of football.

The Bavarian offer

As revealed in SPORT‘s recent report, Bayern are willing to pay an astronomical fee in order to sign the Barcelona defender.

The aforementioned fee includes a massive bonus to the player in addition to a big transfer fee to Barcelona.

He is the Germans’ top priority and number-one option to strengthen the central defence. Bayern Munich, in fact, are willing to double the player’s current salary as part of their offer.

Araujo, however, does not contemplate an exit to be a possible option. He has rejected several large-sum transfer proposals in the past to as to stay at the club of his dreams and still remains rooted in his stance.

Barcelona’s position

A big-money sale at this point would virtually end all of Barcelona’s economic crises and struggles on the transfer market.

The player would be willing to leave if asked to do so by the management, but Joan Laporta and Co have no plan of considering the option.

As one of the captains of Barcelona, Araujo is an important member of the dressing room and starting lineup and is considered untransferable.

The Catalans hope to tie him down with a new contract including a salary bump in the coming months, but it is clear that Bayern Munich’s interest will not fizzle out very soon.
