Bayern Munich rule out January moves for Barcelona duo – report
Barcelona can breathe easier over the futures of Dani Olmo and Jules Kounde, with Bayern Munich not planning to pursue either player during the January transfer window despite their longstanding interest in the duo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the German champions have no ongoing negotiations or plans to make a winter move for the Barcelona stars.
While both players have previously attracted Bayern’s attention, the financial demands involved and the timing of a potential deal make January an unlikely scenario.
Notably, the report does not rule out Bayern revisiting either target in the future, but for now, Barcelona are not facing an imminent transfer threat from Munich as they look to retain two important members of their squad.
Bayern’s interest in Olmo remains a long-term possibility
Olmo has been on Bayern’s radar for several years, including before his return to Barcelona from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024.
As such, earlier reports had suggested that the German club could consider an offer worth as much as €90 million for the Spain international.

In fact, sources close to the player confirmed that Bayern’s interest was genuine and longstanding. Nevertheless, there is no deal being negotiated for January.
Although Olmo could remain an attractive option for Bayern in the longer term, the current situation does not point towards an immediate transfer attempt.
For Barcelona, that provides some clarity amid recent speculation about the midfielder’s future.
Any potential move would require a change in Bayern’s current position, with no formal winter pursuit underway.
Kounde transfer would cost Bayern Munich up to €90 million
Interestingly, Kounde’s situation follows a similar pattern.

Bayern have previously shown interest in the French defender, including before he joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022, but a January move is not currently considered a realistic prospect.
The 27-year-old’s ability to operate both at centre-back and right-back makes him an appealing option for clubs seeking defensive versatility.
Notably, the potential cost of a hypothetical Kounde transfer is reported to be between €80 million and €90 million.
Understandably, Bayern are not expected to spend that amount on the position during the winter window, making a deal difficult to justify at this stage.
The financial obstacle is therefore central to the situation. Even if Bayern retain an appreciation for Kounde’s qualities, their current plans do not include a January attempt to sign him.
