In the summer of 2022, Barcelona have made two of the most blockbuster attacking signings in Spain, with the additions of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

With several sources mentioning that Xavi’s side remain keen on adding Dani Olmo and Nabil Fekir on top of the aforementioned duo, a fresh revelation suggests the possibilities of both moves getting over the line.

As per the latest information provided by journalist Sergio Fernandez, Barcelona’s attempt at signing both players on loan have not been a success.

In the case of Olmo, it is believed that RB Leipzig did not even directly enter the negotiations over a loan switch.

As for Fekir, Real Betis were opposed to any move for the Frenchman as well, especially due to the lack of time remaining in the window to sign a replacement. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano had also earlier revealed that the chances of any switch involving the latter are improbable.

For a chunk of the ongoing summer, it has been reported that Xavi has been eyeing the prospect of bringing in Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

Amongst the various talking points that have surrounded the transfer saga, one of them has highlighted how the Barcelona boss’ vision has been to utilize a 3-4-3 system, with the Portuguese midfielder playing in the hole behind Robert Lewandowski.

However, all hopes of a dream move coming to reality were dashed, after Bernardo himself confirmed his desire to stay at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday.

Considering Dani Olmo and Nabil Fekir’s ability to operate as attacking midfielders, it is possible that the pair were considered as options to play behind Robert Lewandowski.

Unfortunately for the Spanish giants, they will have to set their attention on other alternatives as deadline day is nearing completion
