According to journalist David Ibanez, Barcelona youngster Alejandro Balde is not in training with the rest of the team ahead of the Sevilla clash as he is running a fever.

The 19-year-old left-back has been a revelation this season for Barcelona and put in one of his finest displays so far in the last game against Real Betis earlier this week.

Balde set up the opening goal for Raphinha and mesmerised fans with his performance at both ends of the pitch against the Verdiblancos.

Having put in a fine display earlier in the week, the Spanish international would have been looking forward to build on it against a Sevilla side that is ripe for the taking.

However, Balde is currently down with a fever and is not training with the rest of the team at the moment as per the report from David Ibanez. This casts doubts over his availability for the match against Sevilla at Camp Nou tomorrow night.

Balde has played 17 times in La Liga this season, having become the first-choice left-back under Xavi Hernandez ahead of Marcos Alonso and Jordi Alba.

The La Masia graduate has registered four assists in the process – the second-most by a player under the age of 20 across the top five leagues in Europe.

Just aged 19, Balde has already become a key part of the Barcelona setup and the club are working to renew his contract which stands to expire next year.

Reports suggest that his renewal is taken for granted by the club and the new deal would see the Spaniard stay put at Camp Nou until 2027.

As for his availability for the Sevilla clash, a clearer picture should emerge when Xavi addresses the media later today in his pre-match press conference.
