SPORT today have come up with an update regarding former Barcelona B captain Alex Collado.

The Spanish international seemed set to be promoted to the first team at the end of last season. Moreover, his new contract has a clause that guaranteed his promotion.

Collado was also a part of Koeman’s squad in the preseason. However, the flow of games in the preseason made the youngster doubt his minutes at Barcelona. Given the vast array of options at the manager’s disposal, the forward was convinced that he would not be very involved on the field.

Yet, a move away failed to materialize for the youngster. He was very close to joining Sheffield United on the final day of the window, but that too fell apart.

Owing to the unforseen circumstances, the player was left unregistered for the season. Barcelona did not name him even in the B team squad, and he was left hanging.

Now, reports say that Almeria is a possible destination for Collado, who wants to be rescued from his current situation. Joao Goncalves, his advisor, met with Ramon Planes to discuss a possible loan move for Collado. Other clubs said to be interested in his signing are Borrusia Monchengladbach and Granada.

This comes as very positive news for the Spaniard’s camp, as it would mean that he could once again return to football in January. The player is only looking for a loan move, as he has his heart set on a future at Barcelona.

The move would help him get minutes under his belt and prove his worth to both the manager and management. A move away in January seems a certainty at this point.
