After news emerged that Jules Kounde wants Barcelona to listen to offers starting this summer, the Barça management has been keenly working on the case.

The defender is evidently not satisfied with his role at the club and although the management can alter this situation by just signing a right-back, the interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United can change the scenario altogether, reports SPORT.

The outlet claims that the Blaugrana are aware of the interest in Kounde from the Premier League giants and they have informed the footballer’s entourage that they will not negotiate on any offer that is less than €75 million.

Kounde, 24, was signed from Sevilla for a deal worth €50 million plus add-ons in the previous summer. Interestingly enough, Barcelona had to fend off a strong interest from Chelsea and merely a season after joining, he is willing to trade La Liga for the English Premier League.

The French defender was signed with a promise that he would form an unassailable partnership with Ronald Araujo at the heart of the defence. As it turns out, the 24-year-old spent the majority of his 2022/23 season on the right side after Barcelona failed to find a reliable alternative.

Now, Xavi has indeed rotated his defenders, but Kounde has been deployed on the right more than Araujo. This has frustrated the defender to a great extent and it is believed that he longer feels comfortable at Barcelona. Add to it, if Inigo Martinez does arrive, he can bid farewell to his hopes of playing as a centre-back next season.

All this has alerted the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United and SPORT says that the Premier League duo is pressing to sign him in the summer.

As of today, Barcelona know they need to sanction heavy sales in order to balance their financial books, and should a good offer arrive, they are open to sacrificing Kounde.

At the same time, they will not make any rash decision on Kounde’s future as they do understand that a major part of the defender’s struggle this season was down to the fact that he had a hard time adapting.

For the moment, there are no offers on the table but in any way, Barcelona have made it clear that they would not sell the defender for a lower price than €75 million. even if the player is unhappy.
