Barcelona well-positioned to complete Bosman move for Arsenal striker

It is no secret that Barcelona are on the lookout for a new striker in the summer transfer window as they look to bolster their frontline for next season.
Borussia Dortmund Erling Haaland has been identified as the priority target for the Blaugrana. But given the financial situation of the club and the interest of Manchester City, there is a chance that the club miss out on the Norwegian’s signing.
So, it is important for Joan Laporta & co. keep their options open and not put all eggs in one basket. Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich has been touted as an alternative, while there have been links to Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak as well.
Now, French publication Le10 Sport (h/t SPORT) has thrown an interesting name into the mix, claiming that Barcelona are in a good position to secure the signing of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old has been with the Gunners since 2017 and has been a fairly consistent performer up top, producing a return of 71 goals and 36 assists from 197 matches. While he has gone through dry patches in front of goal, the ex-Lyon ace contributes with his efforts off the ball and the link-up play.
Lacazette is in the final few months of his contract at Arsenal and talks over a renewal are yet to take place. So, as things stand, the Frenchman looks bound for an exit from the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
And, Barcelona are seemingly well-positioned to snap up his signing on a Bosman deal as per the report. While he may not be the most prolific option going around, the current Arsenal captain would be a cost-effective signing.
The 30-year-old could potentially be seen as a replacement for Luuk de Jong, who is unlikely to be signed permanently by the Blaugrana. He can provide reliable cover to his former teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Barça from Arsenal in the winter.
