Barcelona veteran defender drops hints about his contract renewal on social media
Dani Alves signed for Barcelona on a six months contract which came into power in January, 2022. The Brazilian was part of the four players that arrived in the winter transfer window, and has already left an impact on the team.
Yesterday, MARCA reported that the defender wants to play club football to be fit and in consideration for the Qatar World Cup in December. And Barcelona, who are very happy with Alves, could hand him a contract renewal.
Alves has taken to Twitter to react to the rumour, saying, “My heart becomes afraid when it says MARCA hahahahahaha!! Just joking guys, keeping up my habit with MARCA!!”
Cuando dice MARCA mi corazón comienza a tener miedo jajajajajaja!!

Es una broma tíos, solo para no perder la costumbre con marca!! ??? https://t.co/cNo2kQ6EhT
This tweet is an iconic reference to Alves’ 2015 feud with Madrid-based outlets, MARCA and AS. He refused to take questions from them in a press conference, saying, “Trash, I don’t answer MARCA questions.”
His second half of the tweet does drop a hint about his possible renewal, though, as he refused to deny the news despite quoting it.
With three assists and a goal in six appearances, Alves has certainly left no stone unturned after making a legendary return to life in Catalunya. Will fans get to watch him retire at the club, though?
