Barcelona target’s agent opens the door for summer exit, player wants Camp Nou move

It is no secret that Barcelona pushed very hard to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat in the January transfer window.
After stellar displays at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, the Moroccan was a man in demand in the winter, with the Catalans among the clubs trying hard to sign him. The defensive midfielder even did not show up to training to try and force an exit.
However, Fiorentina held firm and made it clear that he would not be leaving in the winter, despite widespread interest.
But, according to Amrabat’s agent Mohamed Sinouh, the Serie A club promised that they would consider selling him in the summer if he remained at the club in January, thus opening the door for a move to Barça later this year.
“We don’t have any summer offers at the moment, but now at least Fiorentina are willing to listen. It’s a promise they made when the president rejected all offers in winter,” his agent Mohamed Sinouh told Kora Plus (h/t SPORT).
When asked about Barcelona’s interest in Amrabat in January, Sinouh said: “Barça? The Fiorentina president refused to let him leave because he represented a sure value after the role he had played in the World Cup.”
“We received many offers during the January transfer window, including one from Manchester United, but we were unable to reach an agreement,” he further added.
While a move did not materialise in January, Barcelona are understood to retain an interest in Amrabat. The player was said to be keen on joining the Blaugrana back in the winter and still has a desire to secure a move to the Catalan outfit.
However, with Fiorentina likely to demand a fee of around €40 million for the Moroccan ace, a move could be unfeasible for Barcelona, especially with the club having other priority targets at the moment.
