Although there have been a number of additions already, FC Barcelona’s plans in the transfer market are still in motion.

The Blaugranes continue to keep an eye on players in the market and aim to significantly bolster the roster, especially in the creative midfield and right-back positions, before the window slams shut.

According to SPORT, Xavi Hernandez’s greatest wish is to sign Bernardo Silva and the Manchester City superstar would be willing to force an exit if Barcelona were to come calling.

But the La Liga champions see it as virtually impossible to sign him without making another significant transaction.

The Portuguese midfielder has been on the club’s radar for a while now, with the player eager to join forces since last summer as well. However, the move failed to come to fruition due to financial limitations.

The situation appears the same this season, as Bernardo is once again believed to be out of the club’s budget range.

While Barcelona’s coaching department sees Bernardo as the ideal reinforcement, there are minimal possibilities to sign him this summer unless there is another significant unexpected sale.

Manchester City value their crown jewel in midfield highly, having won the treble last season with him playing a pivotal role. The Sky Blues even rejected offers of more than €75 million from PSG this summer.

As such, financial frailties have deterred Barcelona from making any concretized movements.

Silva’s situation could change if Barça intervened, with the player and his agent, Jorge Mendes, clear that they would be willing to force a departure in the event the Catalans made a request.

But Barcelona have not presented any formal offers, owing to the cost of the operation. The Catalan giants have kept in touch with the player and his environment but are unable to take the leap to formal negotiations.

Xavi admires the player greatly, yet the protracted saga is believed to not yield an outcome that favours Barcelona, solely due to the economic situation.
