FC Barcelona face off against FC Porto in a must-win encounter in the UEFA Champions League group stages at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys tomorrow night.

The Blaugrana stumbled in their previous European encounter against Shakhtar Donetsk and need a win tomorrow to be certain about going through to the knockout stages and finishing as group leaders.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen a doubt for Porto clash

But, heading into the game, Barça are sweating over the fitness of key superstar Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is still dealing with lower back pain, which forced him to sit out against Rayo Vallecano.

Earlier today, during his pre-match press conference, manager Xavi Hernandez insisted that a call regarding Ter Stegen’s availability would be taken tomorrow based on his condition.

“Tomorrow Ter Stegen will be tested, let’s see how sore he is. He hasn’t trained practically with the group but he’s always there to help, he’s one of the captains and tomorrow he’ll be tested to see if he’s ready for the game,” the manager claimed.

Now, a report from Javi Miguel of AS is reporting that Ter Stegen is not ruling out the possibility of taking a pain-killer injection to be ready for the Porto clash.

The 31-year-old did not train with the rest of the group today but is said to be keen on making himself available for the crunch game versus the Portuguese champions.

As such, the possibility of him taking an injection and playing against Porto is now on the table.

At the same time, though, Toni Juanmarti of SPORT is claiming that Inaki Pena starting again goal seems the likeliest option at this point.

But, Ter Stegen is not ruling himself out and is prepared to force himself to try and be available for the vital encounter at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium tomorrow.
