Barcelona still ‘dream’ of signing Man City baller, player open to joining the Catalans – report

Over each of the last two summer windows, Barcelona had been heavily linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese international has been on the Catalans’ agenda for a while now, but a move has not taken place due to various reasons.
Last summer, Silva was reportedly open to leaving the Etihad for Spotify Camp Nou, but Barça left it late with their approach, while the monetary issues were also a hindrance.
But, heading into the next summer, SPORT is reporting that Silva continues to be the ‘great dream’ of Barcelona.
The report states that the club are aware that they need to bring in a player who comes with proven pedigree at the highest level and see the Manchester City midfielder as the ideal fit.
It is claimed that the former AS Monaco ace generates the most consensus within the management as they believe that his style of play would fit in well with the Blaugrana system, while his quality would only serve to elevate the level of the entire team.
Silva, for his part, is understood to be keen on leaving Manchester City in the summer and the English champions will not stand in his way if that is his desire. It is further claimed that the former Benfica starlet would ‘love’ to play for Barcelona.
While that is certainly a boost, the Catalan heavyweights must sort out their financial issues if they are to have any hopes of signing Silva from Manchester City.
The Portuguese playmaker will easily command a transfer fee in excess of €80 million, while he would also likely want a lucrative contract. Given the Financial Fair Play situation at Barcelona, quite how they will manage to pull off the deal remains a major question.
But, the La Liga leaders continue to harbour great ambitions for the summer and Silva remains at the top of the agenda, as per the report.
