With Barcelona set to begin their pre-season camp in a little over a week, Xavi Hernandez and the management has several matters to take care of before he begins preparations for the upcoming campaign.

While efforts are being made to secure the manager’s top transfer targets, Barça also need to sell players who are not in the manager’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

One such player who is staring at an uncertain future at Camp Nou is Francisco Trincao.

As per a report from Diario AS, Barcelona are open to offers for Trincao and have slapped a price tag of €18 million on the 22-year-old this summer.

Trincao joined the club back in 2020 from SC Braga in a deal worth €30 million but failed to make an impact in his first season at the club.

After scoring just three goals in his debut campaign, Trincao was loaned out to Premier League club Wolves last summer. But the Portuguese international hardly showed any drastic improvements and ended the 2021/22 campaign with just three goals.

Wolves have decided not to sign Trincao on a permanent transfer, meaning he is now returning to Barcelona.

The winger is attracting strong interest from Portuguese giants Sporting CP. But they do not have the funds available to meet the Catalan giants’ €18 million demands for the forward.

At the same time, even though he does not feature prominently in the plans of Xavi, Trincao is likely to be given an opportunity in pre-season due to the uncertainty bred by Ousmane Dembele’s future.

If Dembele ends up staying or Barcelona sign a quality replacement for the Frenchman, Trincao’s exit is guaranteed. However, whether Sporting or other interested parties are willing to pay €18 million for the Portuguese ace remains the big question.
