As we approach the transfer deadline day, Barcelona are dead set to sign at least one top quality player before the market slams to a shut.

It has been well established that the club are ideally looking to sign a winger following the departure of Memphis Depay and the subsequent injury of star man Ousmane Dembele. But according to MARCA, the club have other areas in mind too.

One of the areas they want to address is the midfield department, with Barcelona planning a last-minute swoop for Sofyan Amrabat.

The report suggests the Catalans are expected to table an offer for Amrabat first thing on Tuesday. The proposal will likely include a loan deal with an option to purchase the player at the end of the season.

Barcelona’s interest in Amrabat is barely surprising as the Fiorentina star was one of the breakthrough stars for the Morocco team that raised many eyebrows by finishing fourth in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Amrabat was indeed a midfield lynchpin for the North African country, offering his composure and experience that helped the nation beat the likes of Spain and Portugal.

The 26-year-old’s performances did not go unnoticed either, with a host of top European clubs interested in his services. Barcelona are among the clubs keen on securing his signature, especially in the midst of speculations going around the future of Sergio Busquets.

The report suggests Barça have the upper hand in the chase as Amrabat himself is keen on joining the club. In an earlier interview, the midfielder had stated his love for the club and how he grew up watching Xavi Hernandez play.

However, whether or not Barcelona can get the deal over the line before the transfer market closes this evening, remains to be seen.
