Barcelona are having problems offloading their own players right now, with several of them on loan elsewhere, including Sergino Dest, Eric Garcia, Clement Lenglet, and Ansu Fati.
However, they are set for a €1.2 million boost soon, if Juan Miranda completes his move from Real Betis to AC Milan, as per a report by SPORT.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Milan are close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with Miranda, who is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2024.
While the plan is to sign him on a Bosman move after his contract expires, Milan could try to pull the deal through in January if they reach an agreement on the transfer fee with Betis, who could be tempted to sell the left-back to avoid losing him for free.
This is where Barcelona comes into the equation. The Catalans let Miranda join Real Betis on a free transfer in 2021, reserving a 40% sell-on clause.
The report from SPORT says Milan are confident about securing Miranda’s signing for €3 million, as he would be available for a slashed price. Barça would secure €1.2 million of that fee.
Barcelona have had severe financial problems for over three years at this point, and have faced trouble signing and registering players.
Progress has been made, like bringing in big-money sponsors like Spotify, but player sales and reducing wages is the Catalans’ best bet at solving this.
Barça were able to offload Ez Abde for €7.5 million, Franck Kessie for €12.5 million, Nico Gonzalez for €8.5 million, and Ousmane Dembele for €50 million this summer itself, but will look to get rid of other deadwood in the team come summer 2024.
