According to GOAL Spain, Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda is generating a lot of interest after breaking into the first-team setup. La Liga giants, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico are all keeping tabs on the 18-year-old defender.

Fresneda is a former Real Madrid academy trainee. He left the club in 2018 and spent two years at the Leganes youth setup before ending up at Valladolid in 2020. He made his senior debut for the Pucela in January last year, but has gained greater prominence this term.

So far in 2022/23, Fresneda has appeared eight times for Real Valladolid and the teenage right-back’s performances have caught the eyes of several clubs, including Barcelona.

The Blaugrana’s pursuit of a new right-back is no hidden secret. With Hector Bellerin not performing at the desired level, Xavi & co. are in the market for reinforcements and have identified several possible targets already.

Now, Fresneda, too has popped on Barça’s radar although given their Financial Fair Play problems, they are unlikely to make a move for the teenager this month.

However, should there be an opportunity for Barcelona to sign Fresneda in June for a reasonable price, the report states that the La Liga leaders could make a play for the 18-year-old’s signing.

Fresneda’s contract with Valladolid runs until the summer of 2025 and comes with a release clause worth €30 million. It is further stated that the value of the buyout clause could rise up to €40 million in the summer if he meets certain performance-based objectives.

As iterated earlier, apart from Barcelona, arch-rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on the Spanish right-back. Atletico have had their eyes on him since last year, while Real officials were impressed by the 18-year-old during their game against Valladolid last week.

Clubs from England, too, have reportedly taken note of Fresneda’s talent and potential. So, it will be interesting to see if the youngster moves this month or in the summer to a bigger club.
