Barcelona propose €5 million salary package to Moroccan defender: Fabrizio Romano

Barcelona are stepping up their pursuit of AFC Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui heading into the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old is in the final few months of his contract with the Dutch Eredivisie champions and looks primed for an exit on a Bosman deal at the end of the ongoing season. And, Barça have shown a serious interest in securing his signing.
With Sergi Roberto likely to leave on a free transfer in the summer and Sergino Dest staring at an uncertain future, the Catalan heavyweights wish to bolster their options at right-back and have narrowed in on Mazraoui as a viable target.
Talks over a deal to sign the Moroccan international with his agent, Mino Raiola, have been ongoing for a while. The full-back himself is believed to be keen on making the switch to Camp Nou once his time at Ajax comes to an end.
Now, Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has come up with an update on the transfer situation while shedding some light on the contract proposal that the Blaugrana are offering the right-back.
As per Romano, Barcelona have offered Mazraoui a contract worth €5 million per year, including add-ons. The fixed part of the salary would be around €3.7-4 million, with the rest being performance-related bonuses.
However, the Italian journalist adds that apart from Barça, Bayern Munich are also interested in the Moroccan defender and are speaking to his agents. But with the 24-year-old seemingly keen on moving to Catalonia, Barcelona are confident of pulling off the deal.
A solid, all-round, modern-day full-back, Mazraoui can potentially be an upgrade on existing options at Camp Nou like Dest and Roberto. As things stand, it only seems a matter of time before he joins the Blaugrana.
