FC Barcelona momentarily moved ahead of Girona to claim second place in the league table, following a convincing 4-0 win over Getafe on Saturday.

As the scoreline suggests, it was a complete domination from Barça, who left no stone unturned when it came to the attacking side of things. No less than four players scored on the night, including a late strike from Fermin Lopez.

At the same time, though, Barcelona defenders also deserve credit for keeping the Getafe attackers at bay and securing a vital clean sheet. Pau Cubarsi, in particular, was one of the better performers for FC Barcelona.

Cubarsi’s masterclass against Getafe

Starting at centre-back alongside Ronald Araujo, Cubarsi provided the technical superiority in the defensive third. He was able to read the game efficiently and thwarted any possible attacking momentum from the Getafe forwards.

Moreover, Cubarsi was excellent in Barça’s build-up play. His composure on the ball coupled with his ability to break the line with his passes made sure the Catalans always had the upper hand.

Players shower praise on Cubarsi

Following his masterful display against Getafe, Cubarsi was showered with love and praise from his fellow teammates after the game.

After posting about the victory on Instagram, Cubarsi received comments from the likes of Joao Cancelo, who wrote, “Franz Beckenbauer Cubarsí.”

Ronald Araujo complimented his ability to pass the ball, commenting, “Pass me a through ball.” Even fellow youth starlet Hector Fort complimented Cubarsi, adding, “You’re so handsome and so good.”

This came in addition to several Barcelona fans praising the youngster for his performance not just against Getafe last night but in general over the last few weeks.

It really seems Cubarsi is approaching every game from strength to strength and could soon become an indispensable figure in the Barcelona backline.
