Barcelona offer €17.5 million contract to 24-year-old full-back

Barcelona are stepping up their pursuit of AFC Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer.
The 24-year-old Moroccan has made over 100 appearances for the Dutch giants and has been a reliable performer. However, with his contract running out at the end of the season, the right-back looks all set to move on at the end of the season.
Barcelona have been hot on his trails for a while now. The Blaugrana are on the lookout for a new right-sided full-back amid question marks over the futures of Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto.
While Dani Alves is set for a contract extension, the Brazilian is unlikely to play beyond 2023, meaning a replacement will be needed then. With Mazraoui currently set to become available on a Bosman move, it only seems logical to swoop in for him and add him to the roster.
And in order to convince him to move to Camp Nou, the Catalan giants are preparing a contract offer worth €3.5 million per season, claims Info Blaugrana (h/t Fichajes).
The duration of the contract being offered would be for five years, taking the total value of the deal to €17.5 million, while there will be additional bonuses involved.
Barça, though, will have to contend with competition from several other top clubs such as AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund in the race for Mazraoui’s signing. But, the La Liga behemoths might have an advantage over the others due to president Joan Laporta’s relationship with the defender’s agent, Mino Raiola.
Talks are already being held over a potential summer transfer and it remains to be seen if Mazraoui finds the contract offer from Barcelona acceptable or holds out for a bigger pay packet.
