Barcelona have not shied away from the free agency in the last few years in an attempt to sign low-cost options for their squad. Dealing with financial issues, the club believes it is their best bet to continue reinforcing the team while also getting quality players.

In the last few seasons, they have acquired the likes of Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, among others on a Bosman move.

And after going out in the group stages of the Champions League two seasons in a row is any indication, they will be keeping serious tabs on free agents in the summer as well.

The likes of Inigo Martinez, Ilkay Gundogan, Marcus Thuram, etc, have already been linked to the club, but Fabrizio Romano provides a key update on a certain Alejandro Grimaldo, who was recently rumoured with a switch to the Catalan capital.

Romano says that Barça are not, in fact, working on a deal for Grimaldo at the moment. Multiple clubs are interested in the Spaniard, but his former club is still quiet on the situation.

The Catalans have three Spanish internationals in the squad who can cover the left-back position, including Alejandro Balde, Jordi Alba, and Marcos Alonso.

At 27, Grimaldo has established himself as one of the best offensive left-backs in the top six leagues, scoring two goals and assisting eight in 24 appearances. He averages two chances created per game, and has racked up 15 big chances created to his name.

Should he leave on a free transfer, he almost immediately guarantees an incredible offensive upgrade over most players in top teams.
