Speaking in an interview on Deportes Cuatro (h/t telecinco.es), Barcelona prodigy Pedri has vowed to shave his head off if Spain go on to win the UEFA Euro 2020.

The 18-year-old has been one of the most impressive performers for La Roja in the European Championships, as they reached the semi-final stage after beating Switzerland via a penalty shootout on Friday as the game ended 1-1 after extra time.

Pedri, who was on media duties after the game, spoke about various topics ranging from his involvement in the upcoming Olympics to his teammate Unai Simon’s performances, and Spain’s chances of going all the way in the Euros.

Pedri has been named in the Spain squad for the Tokyo Olympics which are set to begin a week after the Euros get over. And Barcelona’s request to get the midfielder’s name withdrawn from the roster has been turned down by the Spanish Federation.

Speaking about his next assignment, the youngster insisted that he might be a little tired but he was ready for more. “I’m a little tired, but at 18 I have the strength for much more,” he said.

The 18-year-old then spoke about goalkeeper Unai Simon and how he had bounced back in the quarter-final after having made a blunder in the Round of 16 tie against Croatia. “We have no doubts with him, he is a great goalkeeper,” Pedri said.

The chat then moved towards Spain’s chances in the Euro and their next opponents – the mighty Italians, who breezed past Belgium in the quarter-final on Friday. “All the teams are good. Everyone can eliminate everyone and it will be a great game. It is a dream to be able to wear the Barça and Spain shirt. I hope I can enjoy it,” Pedri added.

Signing off on the interview, Pedri exclaimed that he would go bald in case Spain went all the way in the tournament, saying: “If we win the European Championship I shave my head.

Pedri has been one of the most promising young players in the Euros. His strong run with the national team, coupled with his exceptional breakthrough campaign at club level with Barcelona has put the teenager as the frontrunner for the Golden Boy 2021 award.
