There have been plenty of speculations surrounding the future of Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie over the past few days.

The 26-year-old arrived at the club only last summer, joining as a free agent after his contract with AC Milan had expired. However, he has failed to carve out an identity for himself in Xavi Hernandez’s plans at Camp Nou.

Given his lack of game-time, Kessie has been linked with a swift return to Italy this month, with a swap deal involving Marcelo Brozovic of Inter Milan being talked about.

Despite the rumours, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Kessie has no intentions of leaving Barcelona just six months after arriving in Catalonia.

As iterated earlier, the Ivorian’s name has been mentioned in a potential swap involving Brozovic, with the Croatian international a player that Xavi likes and is interested in signing.

However, Kessie’s entourage are firm on their stance that the 26-year-old is not looking to move only half a season into his stint at Camp Nou.

It is further stated that the former AC Milan ace has not even considered the possibility of leaving on loan this month, let alone a permanent exit.

As things stand, Kessie is the fifth-choice central midfielder at Barcelona behind the likes of Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong. Despite the situation being as it is, the midfielder wishes to fight for his place and gain the confidence of the manager.

Furthermore, the report also clarifies that neither Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff have contacted Kessie’s agents to discuss his future, knowing that the player has no desire to leave.

So, the possibility of the midfielder leaving and the swap deal involving Brozovic seem very distant.
