Speaking to FxCarve (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Barcelona midfield target Fabricio Diaz has claimed that it is a ‘dream’ to be linked with a summer move to Spotify Camp Nou.

Diaz, 20, is a Uruguayan midfielder who plies his trade for Liverpool Montevideo in his homeland. The defensive midfielder made a big impression during the South American Under-20 Championships earlier this year and has been a key player for his club.

Barcelona are among several clubs interested in signing the South American midfield prodigy. The Blaugrana even held a meeting with Diaz’s agent three weeks ago to discuss the possibility of a transfer.

And, reports suggest that Barcelona have laid the necessary foundation over an agreement for personal terms with the midfielder, although they are yet to agree a transfer fee with Liverpool Montevideo, who are holding out for €6 million.

Now, Diaz has added fuel to the fire, stating that it feels like a dream to be courted by a club of Barcelona’s stature. The midfielder then insisted that he is calm about his future and has left everything to his agent at this point.

“It’s a dream that a top club as big as Barcelona is eyeing me, it’s fantastic. I am calm, my agent will find the best option for me,” Diaz said.

At just 20 years of age, Diaz is already the captain of Liverpool Montevideo and looks set to move onto bigger and better things this summer.

Barcelona’s idea, should they sign him, would be to have him play for Barça Atletic while keeping him in the dynamics of the first team.

Judging by his words, the youngster certainly seems excited by the possibility of a transfer to Catalonia. However, a move would depend on Barcelona and Liverpool Montevideo reaching an agreement over a transfer fee.
