Speaking on the Aperibiza podcast, former Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic has backed Pedri to enjoy a great career with the club.
Pjanic arrived at Barça the same year as Pedri did, in the summer of 2020, when Ronald Koeman was the manager of the team.
While the youngster thrived in Catalonia, the same could not be said of the veteran Bosnian, who left the club in 2022 for Sharjah FC in the UAE, after spending a season away on loan at Besiktas.
Pedri will have a great career, reckons Pjanic
During the season that the two shared the dressing room at Barcelona, Pedri played regularly while Pjanic was hardly utilised by Koeman.
And the veteran midfielder has now heaped praise on the 20-year-old star, hailing his commitment and desire to improve, and backing him to enjoy a special career.
“A player I like a lot is Pedri, he is a great talent. I’ve known him since I played for Barça. He’s humble, he’s always trying to improve. I think he will have a great career at Barça”, Pjanic said, as quoted by SPORT.
On his Barcelona move
Pjanic also discussed his move from Juventus to Barcelona, in a deal that saw Arthur Melo move the other way to Italy.
Things never really worked out for the Bosnian international in La Liga though, but he has no regrets about the transfer, as he said:
“Signing for Barça was another step forward in my career. In life you have to look for motivation, it’s very important, because being in a comfort zone is always one thing, but it’s not good.”
