Barcelona match will not determine Inter Milan coach’s future – report

If there’s a club in world football that has virtually no complaints about their manager, it is Barcelona with Xavi Hernandez.

Since his arrival in November last season, the club legend has initiated a rebuild at the Spotify Camp Nou, both tactically and in terms of recruitment that has ensured Barça have returned to their status as one of the best teams in Europe.

The same cannot be said about the side’s upcoming opponents, Inter Milan, who are undergoing a ropey spell with Simone Inzaghi at the helm.

After losing out to AC Milan on the Serie A title in the previous term, the Nerazzurri are languishing in 8th this term, with four wins and four losses in their first eight league games. As a result, the question mark around his future has been answered.

As per the latest information provided by Sky Italia (h/t FCB World), Inter Milan will not sack Simone Inzaghi before their upcoming Champions League fixture against Barcelona.

In addition, the Italian coach’s fate will not be decided based on the result against the La Liga giants.

This news is perhaps a positive for the Catalan side, considering a sacking of Inzaghi, with the addition of another coach could potentially have instilled the clichéd ‘new manager bounce.’

With a raucous San Siro crowd willing their potential new manager in charge, an unexpected win could well have been on the cards, had Inzaghi been shown the door.

However, the atmosphere in the stadium could take a complete nosedive on Tuesday night, if Barcelona take the lead and eventually take home the all-important three points.

It is also worth emphasizing that considering the Spanish outfit being one of the most in-form teams in the continent, aspects such as Simeone Inzaghi’s position should truthfully be a mere non-factor.
