Barcelona legend rules out reunion with Messi at Inter Miami: “It is impossible”

Former Barcelona striker and club legend Luis Suarez has ruled out the possibility of him joining close friend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami this summer.
Messi, who will be a free agent after June 30, was heavily linked with a return to FC Barcelona. However, the 35-year-old decided to snub the Blaugrana in favour of a transfer to Inter Miami in the MLS.
Soon after the announcement was made, reports emerged claiming that Messi could be joined by his close friend and former Barça teammate Suarez at the MLS outfit, along with departing Blaugrana skipper Sergio Busquets.
Suarez plies his trade for Gremio in Brazil, having joined the club only in January earlier this year. The Uruguayan icon has a contract with the South American outfit until December 2024 and has ruled out the possibility of reuniting with Messi in Miami.
“This is false, it is impossible,” Suarez told Uruguayan newspaper El Observador (h/t ESPN). “I am very happy at Gremio and I have a contract until 2024.”
Suarez and Messi played together for six years at Barcelona and formed a deadly partnership in the final third. But, a reunion in Miami does not appear to be on the cards at this moment.
While Suarez might not be headed for the MLS, Busquets may very well make his way to David Beckham’s franchise and reunite with his former teammate, Messi.
The 34-year-old midfielder has offers from Saudi Arabia and Inter Miami and he could lean towards the latter following Messi’s decision to move to the USA.
