Barcelona keen on signing Ajax prodigy in 2022

According to reports from Fichajes Barcelona are looking to pursue their dream signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax.
The young Dutch star has been the centre-piece of not only Eric ten Hag’s Ajax team but also the Dutch international team this season. The youngster received his first call-up for Louis van Gaal’s side after a fantastic domestic season and even played at the European Championship.
Gravenberch has proven to be a reliable option in the midfield in multiple roles, with good awareness in both distribution and defence. Needless to say, the physicality the teenager provides is another factor that bumps up his market value.
Barcelona and Ajax’s bond is well-documented, stemming from several decades. From Johann Cruyff to the most recent in Frenkie de Jong, the Dutch side has seen numerous of their players make the switch to Catalonia owing to the similarity in style. The case has been even stronger for midfielders who have found it relatively easy to adapt.
Gravenberch is on the radar to become the next player to carry on the Dutch player legacy at Barcelona. It will be an attractive offer for the teenager, considering that he will have the likes of Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong in the dressing room.
The only constraint in Barcelona’s path to signing the talented midfielder is the economic situation. The Catalans are pressed for money, and the Dutchman is bound to cost a few heaps.
Gravenberch’s contract at the Dutch capital ends in 2023. This could be good news to the board, for Ajax will be under more pressure to sell him over the fear of losing him on a free transfer.
