While negotiating the sale of Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, Barcelona secured a purchase option for one of the Rojiblancos’ stars in Yannick Carrasco for the summer.

And, according to Mundo Deportivo’s Gabriel Sans, all the reports that Barcelona have received on the Belgian winger have been positive and the operation has been given the ‘OK’ by the club’s technical staff.

Barça very much intend to execute the purchase option on Carrasco, but the financial problems are set to become a hurdle.

The report states that the La Liga leaders see the operation as a very good one, especially with the transfer price agreed between the two clubs being under €20 million.

However, some reports have suggested previously that Barcelona do not wish to pay more than €9-10 million for Carrasco’s signing.

But there have been no contacts between the two clubs over the transfer as of yet while Atletico Madrid are in no mood to negotiate a new price either.

Barcelona, for their part, are taking things slowly as they also need to resolve their salary margin problems before making a move for Carrasco.

But, based on the reports compiled on the 29-year-old in the ongoing campaign, the technical staff has given its approval for his signing.

Carrasco has played 35 matches across all competitions this season for Atletico Madrid, scoring six goals and registering three assists.

The winger had appeared keen to join Barcelona during the winter window itself but the Rojiblancos were unwilling to sanction an exit.

It is claimed that the former Genk and AS Monaco winger continues to desire a move to Barça and is refusing to listen to offers from the Premier League.

While Barcelona seem very much locked in on his signing in the summer, what remains to be seen is whether they are successful in lowering the transfer fee by negotiating with Atletico Madrid.
