As was seen this past summer with the acquisitions of Mikayil Faye, Vitor Roque, Noah Darvich, and Mamadou Fall, Barcelona will continue to have a distinct focus on recruiting the best young talents from across the globe.

New sporting director Deco already has identified several young prospects as potential targets for Barcelona, with the names of Joao Neves and Dario Essugo understood to be on the wishlist.

Another name that is on Barça’s agenda as per reports is Corinthians’ midfield prodigy Gabriel Moscardo, who is also being pursued by Chelsea.

Barcelona make enquiry for Moscardo

Building on the reports of interest, now Goal Brazil is claiming that Barcelona have already made enquiries for Gabriel Moscardo.

The report states that the Blaugrana are weighing up the possibility of signing the 17-year-old midfielder from Corinthians in January, but are yet to make an offer for him.

Moscardo turns 18 on September 28 and will be able to move to Europe when the January transfer window opens, with Chelsea and Barcelona considering moving for him.

The report suggests that Barcelona had asked about Moscardo’s situation with his representatives but did not make an offer due to concerns about his form dipping or any injury hampering him.

The La Liga champions believe that a more concrete move for him could be made in the next transfer window.

As such, the Catalans will evaluate him for a while longer and only then will they send a formal bid to try and sign him.

Moscardo open to Europe move

The report further states that Moscardo, for his part, is ready to make the jump to Europe, as Barcelona and Chelsea vie for his signing.

Corinthians, though, could play hardball in negotiations, having already turned down an offer worth €25 million (including variables) from Chelsea during the summer window.

It is suggested that the Brazilian giants could hold out for at least €30 million for their teenage wonderkid.

Moscardo’s contract with Corinthians runs until July 2026 and has a €100 million release clause. It remains to be seen if Barcelona’s enquiry leads into something more substantial.
