The recent registration of Jules Kounde and the exit of Samuel Umtiti marks a pivotal moment in Barcelona’s transfer market activity this summer. But there is still work to be done as the club look to bring in reinforcements in the fullback department.
According to a report from Diario AS, Barcelona have identified a list of four targets to be pursued in these final few days of the transfer market.
In the right-back department, the club are eyeing moves for Juan Foyth and Hector Bellerin. Foyth, without a doubt, is the priority target as the Villarreal starlet is rated highly in La Liga and can offer a great deal of defensive solidity out wide.
Foyth’s versatility could also serve as a great bonus for Xavi. But with Villarreal reluctant to offload the Argentine international, Bellerin has emerged as a potential alternative.
Reports suggest the Arsenal man could be allowed to leave for free, which makes him an appealing target for Barcelona. However, the Catalans are only expected to consider this option if they are assured of failure in the Foyth pursuit.
Meanwhile, in the left-back unit, Barça have targeted two players in Marcos Alonso and Javi Galan.
Alonso had been a target for Xavi for a long time. The player was rated highly due to his experience and pedigree at the highest level of football, but his error-prone nature has put question marks over the deal lately.
As such, Barcelona are keeping tabs on Javi Galan as well. The Celta Vigo starlet is a much more reliable option due to his consistent success in La Liga in recent years. But with an €18 million release clause, luring him away from Celta could be a tricky task.
