Barcelona have been pushing hard to secure the signing of Leeds United winger Raphinha ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has become a much sought-after commodity in the transfer market owing to his performances for the Whites in the Premier League, with Barcelona among a host of other clubs interested in signing him.

Barça have already seen an offer get rejected for Raphinha, with Leeds United demanding that the Catalans pay his €75 million release clause.

So, even though there is believed to be a total agreement between the club and the player, the Blaugrana will have to negotiate a fee with Leeds before finalising the switch.

But given the financial constraints that the Catalans are operating within, it is highly unlikely that they will pay the €75 million fee to sign Raphinha.

Instead, Javi Miguel of AS reports that Barcelona will only go ahead with the deal if Leeds are willing to agree to a swap deal or the release clause amount drops down to €25 million.

There have been talks of a potential part-exchange deal involving Oscar Mingueza, who has emerged as a target for the Whites. As for the release clause fee, Raphinha could become available for just €25 million if Leeds get relegated from the Premier League.

It would be around the same fee that Barcelona would have to pay Wolves to sign Adama Traore on a permanent basis at the end of the season. However, should they end up bringing in Raphinha from Leeds, the Blaugrana will not be making his transfer permanent and will let him return to England.

Finally, Javi Miguel also claims that Barça will not go ahead with their pursuit of Raphinha if they manage to strike an agreement to extend Ousmane Dembele’s contract. The Frenchman has been in top form of late, sparking talks of him staying beyond the current campaign.

But there has been little to indicate thus far that negotiations will restart between the club and the Frenchman. But, if that changes in the coming weeks, Barcelona could stop their pursuit of Raphinha.
