As we inch closer to the summer transfer window, it has become abundantly clear that Barcelona will need to make player sales and fast if they are to be able to sign and register new stars before next season.

A number of fringe players have been put up for sale as a result, along with almost all the stars who were out on loan from the club for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign.

And, one such player who spent the last season away on loan from Barcelona and has no future back at the club is Sergino Dest.

The 22-year-old right-back was shipped off to AC Milan for the 2022/23 season, but it is safe to say that the USMNT star’s stint in Italy failed spectacularly.

Dest played just 14 times across all competitions for the Rossoneri, who will not be taking up the €20 million purchase option inserted in the loan deal.

As such, the right-back will be back at Barcelona soon, but with no future at the club, the La Liga champions are actively looking to offload him.

However, according to a report from Achraf Ben Ayad, as things stand, Barça have not received any offers whatsoever for Dest.

This is not a good development as far as the Blaugrana are concerned as they were hoping to make at least one or two sales before June 30.

Dest, for his part, has been attracting interest from Bundesliga club Union Berlin. However, the German outfit are eyeing him on loan while Barcelona prefer an outright sale.

In case the Blaugrana are unable to find suitors for the USMNT international, there may be a possibility, however remote, that he could be kept around in the squad by Xavi amid a lack of options at right-back, especially now that the club have ruled out signing a new player for the position.

Dest is currently with the USMNT camp, with the North American nation having four games coming up over the course of the next 2-3 weeks. Following that, he will likely return to Barcelona at which point a resolution over his future will be sought.
