Barcelona defender has much better contract offers from Chelsea, Manchester United – report

Speaking on Onze TV3, Oriol Domenech has claimed that Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has much better contract offers from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United than what he is being offered by the Catalans.
Araujo has grown leaps and bounds since making his first-team debut for the Blaugrana back in 2019. The 22-year-old has emerged as the club’s best defender in the past year or so and is one of the most reliable players in his position in La Liga.
However, Araujo’s long-term future at Camp Nou has become a topic of concern for Barça. The Uruguayan international’s contract runs out in eighteen months and talks over a new deal are yet to progress. It has alerted clubs from across Europe about the possibility of signing him for a bargain price in the summer.
And as per the report mentioned above, Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in signing Araujo and have presented him with much better contract offers than what Barça have proposed.
Chelsea are staring at the prospect of losing three defenders with Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger being all out of contract at the end of the season. Among the trio, Azpilicueta is believed to be headed to Camp Nou, while Christensen is also a target for the Blaugrana.
The Blues intend to fill the vacancy with Araujo and are ready to hand him a bumper contract. As for Manchester United, they, too, are ready to make a large investment in the 22-year-old centre-back with their current options failing to deliver as expected.
Given the financial health of the two Premier League clubs, it is only natural that they can afford to hand him a much bigger contract than Barcelona. However, reports have indicated that Araujo wishes to continue at Barça, although he wants wages that reflect his current status in the team.
