After two years of struggle at Barcelona and AC Milan, Sergino Dest appears to be thriving again.

The right-back signed for Barça back in 2020 but struggled to make much of an impression in his first two seasons at the club.

As a result, the USMNT international was loaned out to AC Milan last season, but failed to impress during his stint in Italy as well.

However, having joined PSV on loan from Barcelona this past summer, Dest appears to be returning to his best.

Dest hailed by PSV manager

Indeed, back in the Netherlands, where he began his career with Ajax, the Barcelona loanee has become an integral part of Peter Bosz’s PSV Eindhoven outfit.

And speaking after their 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle this past weekend, Bosz sang praises of Dest, who slotted in at left-back and even contributed with an assist in the game.

“He is a versatile player who can occupy both the right and the left-back spot. We help him improve as a defender,” Bosz said (h/t PSV official website).

“He has extraordinary qualities when he has the ball. Just look at the no-look assist he had for our fourth goal, scored by Malik Tillman.”

Since joining PSV on loan, Dest has featured in 13 matches across all competitions, registering a solitary assist in the process.

The 23-year-old USMNT international has been a regular in Peter Bosz’s side, be it at right-back or left-back, and has made a fairly solid impression.

As such, there is a solid chance that the Eredivisie giants could decide to make his transfer permanent, which could lead to Barcelona pocketing €10 million in transfer fees.
