Barcelona defender asked to be substituted vs Getafe due to hamstring knock

Andreas Christensen was one of two Barcelona players who were subbed off at half-time, with the Dane making way for Eric Garcia at the heart of the defence.
Christensen’s substitution was a bit surprising to Barcelona fans. But according to Helena Condis, it was the defender’s own decision to be subbed off at half-time, as he felt a little discomfort in the hamstring of his left leg.
The substitution of the former Chelsea starlet did break the solid foundation between him and the Frenchman Jules Kounde at the heart of Xavi’s four-man backline.
But his replacement Garcia has done a fine job at the back so far, helping Barcelona maintain the clean sheet as we head towards the final few minutes of the proceedings.
Barcelona fans, meanwhile, are hoping that Christensen’s knock will not be too serious as the Dane has been one of the club’s finest performers in the defensive unit. Although the knock did not seem serious, the club cannot afford the defender’s prolonged spell on the sidelines.
A lot will be revealed after the game, as Barcelona look to keep hold of their slender lead over Getafe and consolidate their position at the top of the league table.
