Barcelona’s aspirations are many heading into the summer transfer window. Limited funds, however, limit their execution of operations on the wish list.

A large part of what the Blaugranas achieve in the coming summer thus depends on the funds the club manage to rope in during the coming months.

A number of economic manoeuvres including the sale of a centre-back have been discussed, and AS relays the latest among them.

The club’s key: Loanees

The Spanish outlet reveal that the Catalan administration see on-loan stars to be the key to their financial crisis.

After all, the club have as many as seven players plying their trade on loan whom they hope to capitalise on.

Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, Sergino Dest, Julian Araujo, Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, and Chadi Riad are the seven Catalan stars currently playing outside the club, albeit with varying success.

Barcelona hope to recoup as much as €85 million from the sale of the aforementioned stars if they succeed in selling them according to their market value.

Potential recalls

While it is true that the seven sales would bring in a large sum of money, it remains clear that Barcelona may not wish to sell all of the on-loan stars. After all, some have made a strong case to return and play for the Catalan giants.

Julian Araujo is one such youngster who has really impressed during his stint at Las Palmas, and many in the Barça administration do not see his return with bad eyes.

Another youngster who appears set to return under Xavi’s command is Chadi Riad. The protege has exceeded all expectations at Real Betis and is the Blaugranas’ first bet to reinforce the defence in the summer if one of Jules Kounde or Andreas Christensen is sold.

It thus remains to be seen how much of the expected €85 million actually makes its way to the coffers in Barcelona.
