Barcelona have started their preparation for life without Ousmane Dembele, as they look to bring in Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

The Portuguese international has been identified as the ideal replacement for Dembele, who looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the new season.

Dembele still remains a Barça player

Despite all the noise linking him to a move to PSG, Dembele still remains a Barcelona player for the moment.

According to Diario SPORT, PSG are still waiting for the documentation for Dembele’s transfer to the French capital.

However, everything has been put to a halt at the moment. Although the reason is specified, it is clear that the transfer is not advancing at the speed PSG were hoping for.

This is a reason why Dembele has not been able to complete his mandatory medical at PSG. He has also been unable to sign a contract with the French champions, even though he flew to Paris back on Thursday itself.

Dembele could be available for Joan Gamper trophy

Due to a delay in Dembele’s transfer to PSG, the report from SPORT suggests the Frenchman could be summoned to training on Monday at Ciutat Esportiva by Xavi Hernandez.

Following this, Dembele could be forced to play in the Joan Gamper trophy against Tottenham on August 8, as the Frenchman is still contractually bound to the Catalan club.

However, Barça have not made a decision on whether or not they should exercise this option. The club are not expected to take this matter to the extreme and a decision could be made today.

In any case, Barça would logically prefer to play without Dembele in the Joan Gamper trophy, knowing the Frenchman will not be a part of the club’s project.
