A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on the future of Youssoufa Moukoko. The Borussia Dortmund starlet is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market right now, having become a prime target for FC Barcelona ahead of the new season.

The Catalans have been keeping close tabs on Moukoko’s situation at Dortmund lately. The attacker is having an uncertain future in Germany, with his Dortmund contract expiring at the end of the season.

BVB have not been able to find a breakthrough in their bid to convince Moukoko to sign a contract extension. As per the report, they are expected to make one last attempt to find an agreement with the German international.

It is clear that Moukoko and Dortmund board have had their differences, primarily due to the disparity between the salary package that has been demanded and the package that has been offered.

The player, though, has come out denying his lucrative demands. He is still open to extending his contract at Signal Iduna Park, as he is grateful to Dortmund for providing him with the opportunity at the highest level of football.

But internal reports suggest that a contract extension is practically impossible and that is where Barcelona come into the fray. The report claims that the Catalans are confident of signing Moukoko if he leaves Dortmund as a free agent at the end of the season.

In fact, Barça are expected to kickstart their efforts to sign Moukoko on a free transfer as soon as he denies Dortmund’s final renewal effort. Barcelona are aware of interest from the Premier League, but they are confident of pipping other clubs in the race to sign the German international.

Moukoko himself has a soft spot for Barcelona, which gives the Catalans a major headstart as they look to secure the deal for the youngster next summer.
