Barcelona are actively seeking out the possibility of offloading their fringe players as we near the start of the new season.

Memphis Depay, for one, is among the players facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, with Xavi already issuing a strong warning to the Dutchman over his waning role at the club.

It was followed by reports suggesting Barcelona are in talks with Sevilla, over the possibility of including the former Manchester United starlet in the deal to sign top target Jules Kounde.

Reputed journalist Toni Juanmarti has now offered an update on the future of Depay. The Spanish columnist suggests Barcelona are confident the Dutchman will eventually leave the club, knowing he is not included in Xavi’s plans ahead of the new season.

The club believe Depay will agree to leave Camp Nou in search of more prominence elsewhere.

With just one year left on his current Barça deal, the Catalans are desperate to sanction his sale in the summer, knowing this could be their last chance to generate a considerable transfer revenue.

Taking Depay off the wage bill may also go a long way in helping Barcelona balance the books ahead of the new season and register the new signings including Robert Lewandowski.

Juanmarti has also offered an update on the future of Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian international is expected to leave the club as well despite his recent comments in relation to his potential return of form under the leadership of Xavi Hernandez.

Although Xavi has been left impressed by Pjanic’s performance in training, it appears Barcelona are being forced to sanction the sale of the experienced midfielder, whose departure could help the club reduce their large workforce expenditures.
