According to the ever-reliable Moisés Llorens, the Barcelona meeting of board members concluded with the decision to not resign, and Josep Bartomeu deciding to fight the ‘Vote of No Confidence’.

Josep Maria Bartomeu, who took over the Presidency helm at Barcelona in 2015 was able to easily secure the elections following Barcelona’s treble victory in 2015 under Luis Enrique. Since then, however, the Spanish entrepreneur has been brought under critical scrutiny courtesy of several questionable transfers, disregard for the youth setup, signings done for the purpose of money laundering, and much more.

Following the defeat against Bayern Munich, Bartomeu’s board was called out by several important members associated with Barcelona, including potential presidential candidates, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and most recently Gerard Pique. Socis associated to the club took this as an opportunity to launch a Vote of No Confidence against the current Barcelona administration, which would force a resignation from the board if all stages are to be completed successfully.

Bartomeu has done his level best so far to fight the Vote of No Confidence, which is ready to be moved into its second stage. Recently, however, it was reported that he and his board were considering resignation as to avoid further embarrassment, and met today to discuss the same. Unfortunately for Barcelona fans, though, the decision made by the board is to continue at the club for as long as it is possible and fight the Vote of No Confidence.

Following what will forever remain an unforgettable might for the youngster, Ilaix Moriba scored his first goal for Barcelona. It was a sensational strike, as the young Spanish midfielder faked a shot one way, only for him to cooly dispatch it the other way.

Yesterday night, Barça legend Luis Suárez Miramontes had this to say both in regards to the club’s youth, as well as club veteran Lionel Messi: “For this group of young people it is essential that there is someone like Messi with personality and charisma so that they grow as they should. That is why it is necessary to maintain it. (via Carrusel)

Per earlier reports, the Barça captain has stayed true to this. He reportedly takes “special care” of Ilaix Moriba in particular so that the 18-year old doesn’t “deviate from the path of becoming an important player in the team.” This is one of Barcelona’s most talented squads in recent memory, full to the brim and overflowing with youth and exuberance, with all these players looking up to the Argentine.

The 85-year old is a Barcelona legend having played in Barça’s iconic colours from 1955 to 1961. He is widely regarded as one of Spain’s next footballers of all time, and a testament to this is the fact that he is still the only player from the country to ever win a Ballon D’or.

He has been heavily critical of the squad at times this season, owing to the fact that “they [Barca players] make the worst individual and team mistakes.” At least this time he has something to smile about.
