Pedri made his debut for Barcelona on September 27th last year. In just over one year, the youngster has become a household name in the football world, an integral part of Barcelona and one of the faces of La Liga.

The teenager had a sublime season across competitions last season. While he dominated the middle of the park for club week in and week out, he was also a solid pillar in Luis Enrique’s Spanish side that made it to the Semifinal of the Euros.

Moreover, he returned to Barcelona as an Olympic silver medalist with Spain, needless to mention also the best young player of the Euros.

Barcelona have been alerted by his astronomic rise and are wary of any threats of losing the youngster. His market value is very high, and many sides are said to be interested in his signing.

Laporta yesterday said that the renewals of Pedri and Ansu Fati were on track, and good news could be expected this week. Less than 24 hours later, there is an update on Pedri’s situation.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Canary Islander has agreed on a renewal with the Catalans. The teenager will sign till 2026 as early as next week.

This comes as a reason to celebrate for Barcelona faithful, who have had little to cheer this season.

Pedri was also amongst the top 30 nominees for the prestigious Ballon d’Or released yesterday. Moreover, he was also in the top 10 finalists for the Trophee Kopa, an award given by France Football to the best under-21 player of the season.
