Barcelona will take on Atletico Madrid at Montjuic this Sunday, with the Catalans looking to prevent Real Madrid and Girona from consolidating their position at the top of the league table.

Following an excellent midweek performance against FC Porto, Barcelona’s hierarchy has recently urged the fans to show more support.

Even club president Joan Laporta has asked the fans to come in numbers when Barça take on Atletico Madrid tomorrow while earlier, coach Xavi stressed the importance of having good crowds in the stadium.

Lamine Yamal’s message to Barcelona fans

Shortly after Laporta and Xavi’s message to Barcelona fans, Lamine Yamal has now issued a message to the supporters.

The forward, too, has urged the fans to support the team as they take on Los Colchoneros, in what could turn out to be a must-win encounter for the Catalans.

“Hello Culés, we need you tomorrow for the game and here for the entrance!” said the young winger (h/t Mundo Deportivo), which suggests that there is an internal drive going on within the club to urge fans to show up in numbers.

Concern regarding attendance

After shifting to Montjuic due to renovation works at Camp Nou, Barcelona have endured a novel problem this season – a lack of ticket sales.

There is an abnormally low pace of ticket sales at Montjuic this season. As the winter kicks in, it won’t be surprising if Barça fear that the numbers may continue to trickle down.

However, the late-hour kickoff against FC Porto in midweek did not stop Barcelona fans from showing up in numbers.

Through messages from Laporta and Yamal, it appears the club have done the homework as they look to convince fans to beat the winter cold and show up at Montjuic against Atletico Madrid tomorrow.
