Atletico Madrid target does not want to leave Barcelona in the summer – report

As the summer transfer window edges closer, it has started to become more and more clear the players that might end up leaving the club. Much like last season, a few important players might be forced out in the hopes of reducing the wage bill by a fair bit.
This time around, reports have suggested that Barcelona will be looking to cash in on the likes of Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Jordi Alba, and possibly even Eric Garcia. While all four are important squad players, the club deems they have been misfiring and replaceable.
As for Ferran, SPORT have reported that the player does not want to leave the club in the summer. He is, in fact, convinced about his abilities and believes that eventually he will become important to Xavi’s project.
While his responsibilities have been reduced to largely a bench role, Ferran thinks that he will definitely get game-time soon.
The report suggests that Atletico Madrid and an undisclosed Italian club had inquired about the player in January on a potential loan transfer. At the time Barcelona refused due to a lack of replacements, but they are yet to take a final call on his situation.
The Spaniard was brought in the 2022 winter transfer window from Manchester City for nearly €55 million. While his start was inspirational, scoring four goals and assisting four in 18 games, there were serious doubts over his finishing ability.
Those doubts have been turned into statistics this season as Ferran has scored just two goals in 23 games, while missing seven big chances. He is underperforming his xG by over two goals, too.
With the team seriously misfiring in front of goal, Ferran’s lack of output seriously concerns for Xavi, who has already requested the signing of another forward in the summer.
