Atletico Madrid ‘really like’ Barcelona winger – report
Barcelona could be in for a major shakeup in the coming summer as they look to reinforce their ranks all across the board. At the same time, the club are expected to get rid of multiple players, some of who may even play a critical role in the first team.
There have already been calls for the sale of Ansu Fati, who has fallen out of favour under Xavi Hernandez and has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.
Fati might not be the only high-profile attacker leaving Barcelona in the coming summer, with a report from Diario SPORT suggesting that even Ferran Torres has the subject of interest for Atletico Madrid.
The report points out that the Spanish giants are ‘really interested’ in securing the services of the Spanish international, who has yet to offer the productivity that was expected of him when he joined the club.
With just two goals in 23 league matches, Ferran’s performances have left a lot to be desired, even though he continues to be ahead of Fati in the pecking order.
This has led to speculations over his long-term future at the club, especially in the midst of Barcelona trying their best to facilitate the return of Lionel Messi. The club have also been linked with some other high-profile stars, including Mohamed Salah.
Recent reports suggest Barça would be open to Ferran’s exit and are even considering the possibility of including him in a swap deal involving Yannick Carrasco.
The Belgian has been a target for Barcelona for a while now. It appears Xavi would like the presence of the Atleti attacker in his team next season. As such, one would expect Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of Ferran may rely heavily on the future of Carrasco.
