As per The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal have lodged a formal offer to sign Leeds United winger and Barcelona target Raphinha. However, the said bid is believed to be short of the Whites’ valuation of the Brazilian and is likely to be rejected out of hand.

Raphinha is a man in demand in the transfer market this summer. The 25-year-old has enjoyed two productive campaigns with Leeds but is widely expected to move on from Elland Road, with several clubs vying to sign him.

Indeed, Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have all shown an interest in signing Raphinha this summer.

Barça have been linked the longest with the winger, with personal terms already said to be agreed for months. However, due to the Catalans financial issues, a deal has stalled, which has opened the door for other clubs to make a move.

And, Arsenal have done just that by submitting a formal offer to Leeds United for Raphinha. However, Ornstein adds that the bid is well below what the Whites are seeking for their prized asset and are likely to dismiss the offer.

Raphinha, for his part, continues to wait for Barcelona as a move to Camp Nou is his top priority. But in case the Catalan giants are unable to stump up the necessary cash to sign him, the Brazilian would reportedly prefer a move to Chelsea.

The report states that Raphinha would prefer Chelsea after Barcelona as they would offer him a chance to play Champions League football and challenge for trophies. Arsenal are understood to be next on his priority list, with Tottenham at the bottom despite qualifying for the Champions League.

As iterated earlier, Raphinha already has agreed personal terms with Barça, largely thanks to the close ties between the club and his agent, Deco.

But with the Blaugrana said to be prioritising moves for Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde and Bernardo Silva, it remains to be seen if they have the necessary funds to make a push for Raphinha as well.
