With Barcelona planning a major squad clearout this summer, one of the players who is expected to be moved on by the club is second choice goalkeeper Neto Murara.

Signed from Valencia in the summer of 2019, in a deal worth €26 million, the 32-year-old has never really got a look-in into the starting setup at Barcelona and has had to play second-fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen throughout his three-year stint at Camp Nou.

To date, Neto has made only 21 appearances for Barça and has been pushing for an exit for quite some time now, in search of regular game-time.

And, according to GOAL Brazil, Neto will be allowed to leave in the summer window, with Barcelona ready to accept any offer that comes in for the veteran goalkeeper.

The Catalans do not want to keep him on the roster and keep paying his high wages when he is hardly a part of the manager’s plans and are intent on seeing his back this summer. To that end, they will be happy to accept whatever offer that they get for the Brazilian.

Reports have indicated that Neto is attracting interest from clubs in his homeland, with Athletico Paranaense one of the teams keen. However, the former Juventus star is keen on staying in Europe and would be open to joining a club of lower stature if game-time is guaranteed.

The report from GOAL adds that Premier League giants Arsenal have been monitoring Neto’s status for quite some time now but are yet to make any formal approach for the player.

Arsenal club are poised to lose Bernd Leno this summer, amidst interest from Benfica. So, even though they have closed the signing of MLS star Matt Turner, they could look to bring in Neto as a more experienced backup to the first-choice custodian, Aaron Ramsdale.

However, whether Neto would be open to such a move remains the question, considering that he wants to play regularly, which might not be possible at Arsenal given Ramsdale’s status as the undisputed No. 1.
