Barcelona are currently locked in negotiations with Ousmane Dembele’s entourage over the potential renewal for the explosive winger, whose current deal at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season.

Both the parties want the negotiations to be fruitful, with Dembele, in particular, keen on continuing his success under the leadership of Xavi Hernandez. The Barcelona coach, in turn, believes the Frenchman could be vital in the club’s long-term success.

Reputed journalist Gerard Romero has now offered an update on Barcelona’s contract situation with Dembele in yet another Twitch live stream.

While reports earlier this week had suggested Dembele is waiting for one final offer from Barça, it appears the club have now improved the terms of the deal and are willing to offer the winger an improved salary than what was originally tabled.

There is no doubt the Frenchman is prepared to lower his usual salary demands in an attempt to continue his spell at Camp Nou. But he is unlikely to settle for any fee, especially amid Paris Saint-Germain offering him a lucrative €17 million per season deal.

But it seems Barcelona have improved their offer, and are now one step closer to sealing the renewal of the former Borussia Dortmund starlet.

However, the Catalans still face roadblocks in their quest to keep hold of Dembele, with the club finding it particularly difficult to meet the hefty agent commissions.

It is proving to be a major hurdle, especially in the midst of a financial crisis that notably saw La Liga reduce the club’s spending limit to a negative figure earlier this March.

It makes the operation a tad bit trickier for Barcelona. While they are not expected to give up easily, the onus will equally be on Dembele’s entourage, if the two parties are to truly reach an agreement before the end of May.
