After four weeks of league action, Barcelona will embark on a two-week-long hiatus due to the upcoming international break.

As most of the Barcelona stars ply their trade for their respective national teams, the club are equally looking to give opportunities to the younger players.

One such player is Fermin Lopez, who could well use a bit of game time in the coming couple of weeks.

Fermin Lopez to ply his trade for Barça Atletic

With that in mind, SPORT suggests Fermin Lopez will play with Barça Atletic during the upcoming international break.

The 20-year-old youngster will reinforce the subsidiary squad and could be in contention to feature in Sunday’s game against Nastic.

The player himself is understood to have asked coach Xavi Hernandez to be allowed to join the Barça Atletic squad and participate in the reserve team matches, with the manager agreeing.

This is in order to keep him fit and maintain the youngster’s rhythm, especially following a very promising pre-season campaign.

Lopez needs minutes to develop

Lopez was indeed one of the finds for Barcelona during pre-season, with the young attacker notably starring in a friendly against Real Madrid.

Under the watchful eyes of Rafael Marquez, the Spaniard could further develop his talents in the coming week or so.

So far this season, Lopez, who recently signed a new contract, has featured in only one of Barcelona’s four matches despite being a part of the team all four times.

The only appearance came in the form of a late substitution against Villarreal, in the famous 4-3 victory for Barcelona.

Fermin Lopez, therefore, clearly needs some additional game-time if he is to continue his development, with Barça Atletic emerging as the ideal platform.

This could be the recurring theme for the 20-year-old for the rest of the season as he continues to stay in the first-team dynamics but seek game-time with the subsidiary team.
